Appropriate use of land resources
6.1 To ensure that heritage or archaeologically important features are conserved or preserved if present.
Environmental impact
6.2 To increase the volume of low environmental impact materials used during the construction of the infrastructure and public realm of developments.
6.3 To increase the percentage of timber used in construction sourced from sustainably managed and temperate sources. Recognised accreditations include the Forest Stewardship Council Certification Scheme and Pan European Forest Certification.
Protecting water quality
6.4 To ensure that the quality of ground water, water courses or aquifers is protected both during construction and when the site is completed.
Recycling and Composting
6.5 To promote increased levels of kitchen and garden/ landscaping composting.
6.6 To allow for storage of recyclables in occupied buildings prior to collection and remove the need for frequent journeys to the local recycling facilities.
Water Resource Planning
6.7 To minimise / manage the waste produced on site to limit diversion to landfill.
